Prima Build A Page - February

Hi Ladies,

Came across the sketch for this month's Prima Build A Page Challenge and decided to play along.

Beautiful Smile
Sketch designed by Lene Bjornerud
The feathers on the sketch were the starting point for my LO, as it made me think of the gorgeous Prima Guava Peony Brahms flowers which I have several packs of in my stash as I love the feathers and glitter accent on them.
I chose an outdoor photo of Brittany to go with the olive toned flowers and for a little contrast added a couple more Prima flowers in a burnt orange colour.  I have a massive stash of Prima pp's and used 4 different ranges which I thought blended well together.

The weatherboard pp was altered with gesso, Lindy's Stamp Gang mica powders, a Prima stencil and Viva Inca Gold in copper which you can just see under the gesso.  I started with the copper medium and stencil, but it was a bit too much, so I went over it with gesso to tone it down and was much happier.  Once the gesso was dried off, I layered various Prima stamps with sepia and black ink, then softened the stamped images with Lindy's Stamp Gang mica powder in Antique Menorah Gold applied with a water brush.

Lindy's Stamp Gang February Colour Challenge with Manor House Creations

Hi Ladies,

Last month I took part in Lindy's Stamp Gang Colour Challenge for the 1st time.  I enjoyed it so much, that I decided to have a go at this month's striking colour challenge.

I was inspired to create this LO with the help of  Corrie's #3 and Shirel's #4  Pop and Colours #2  Workshop tutorials, and again had a lot of fun playing with mixed media techniques.

Love The Skin You're In

The background was coated with gesso.  Once dry, I misted with water, then sprayed with Tiffany Lou Blue starburst spray for a soft watercolour effect.  I didn't have the Chesire Cat Cherry starburst spray, so I mixed Autumn Maple Crimson and Cotton Candy Pink starburst sprays together which came pretty close to a match. I created the outline of the heart by using the end of the mister as a brush and used the mixed pink colour and Tibetan Poppy Teal starburst spray. After stamping and masking randomly around the heart I lightly flicked the Tibetan Poppy, mixed pink colour and Midnight Rendevous Raven.  I also used a brush to accent some of the masking with the pink spray.

Couldn't go past using flowers from the Manor House Creations Spring 2013 Collection.  The blue minuettes from the denim mix and pink flowers from the LO pack - cheeky were a perfect match for the Starburst Sprays.  To grunge up the flowers I made sure some of the flicks of Raven mist landed on the flowers.  I also altered the pink flower from the LO Pack by pulling apart the flower and using the top section, which I stamped in black with a Kaisercraft chevron stamp and topped with a recycled black fabric button.

Manor House Creations Products:  Minuettes - denim mix and LO Pack - cheeky

Other Product Used:  MME, Basic Grey Prima and Bo Bunny pp's, Lindy's Stamp Gang Tibetan Poppy Teal, Autumn Maple Crimson, Cotton Candy Pink, Tiffany's Blue and Midnight Rendevous Raven starburst sprays, Prima stencils, Kaisercraft, Prima and Tattered Angels stamps, gesso, modelling paste, metal spacers, Tim Holtz filmstrip die, Prima arrow bling, Heidi Swap buzz words, Washi Tape, button, Carolee Creations mini alpha stickers.

Manor House Creations - Be True LO

Hi Ladies,

I have a LO created for Manor House Creations to share, using a mix of products from the Spring and Winter 2013 collections.

Be True To Yourself
I have been really enjoying experimenting with mixed media backgrounds lately.  I  love dabbling in mixed media, but would always hold back for fear of ruining my LO, but after a few tutorials with Pop and Colours Workshop, I have gained so much more confidence and learned to just have fun with it.

For this LO I was inspired by the Mood Board from the the Inkido February Challenge.  I love vibrant colours and red is one of my favourites, so the photo of the strawberry cake and the red heart chocolate are the inspiration for this LO.  As I was looking through my stash of Manor House flowers and the Belle mixed pack jumped out at me as the perfect choice for this challenge.  The pretty red flowers really pop.
I clustered some of the flowers from the Belle pack with a beautiful white Camelia, Krystal flowers and medium light green leaves.  I am always on the lookout for jewelery items which I can recycle and have used a gorgeous rhinestone flower recycled from a necklace purchased at my local op shop.  I just removed the pearl centre from the folded fabric flower and replaced with bling flower.
I created another smaller cluster on the right hand side of my LO, which flows into my title.  The Believe flexible word was cut down to make the word "Be" and used with the pretty lace heart from the Hearts and Butterflies Lace pack to highlight the words for the rest of my title.
I love the MHC frames as they can be used whole or cut down into smaller pieces, which I have done here on the large and small clusters.  I cut the white Ornate Scallop Frame into two, one piece slightly larger than the other and backed the inner circle of the frame with pp.  Just use a pencil to trace the inner circle onto your pp, then cut about 3mm around the penciled line.  Adhere with glue to the back of the frame.  I needed to position the text in the correct direction so I had to cut the frame first then back with paper, but if the direction of the pp doesn't matter, it's easier to back the whole frame with the paper then cut in half.

MHC Product Used:  Belle flower pack, Camelia - red teal white, Mixed Floral - Krystal, Lace Butterflies and Hearts pack, Ornate Frames - scallop white, Flexible Words - believe black
Other Product Used:  MME and Bo Bunny pp's, white cs, Melissa Frances embossing folder, Prima stamps and stencil, Lindy's Stamp Gang starburst mists, Kaisercraft sparklets, Cosmo Cricket rubons and Tiny Text word stickers, CI flourish sticker, butterfly stickers, gesso, Ranger archival black ink, recycled jewelery

Scrap The Boys - Feb Challenge

Hi Everyone,

I have a LO to share created for this month's challenge at Scrap The Boys.  The theme for this month was to create a LO of your boy/man with someone special in their life.

Together
I recently took this photo of Luke and Brittany, under duress I might add!  They were both so smartly dressed for our close friends daughter's 21st so I begged them to let me take a photo.  I almost had to get on my hands and knees!!  Such a shame I couldn't get one of them smiling, as they kept being silly.  This was the best of the bunch.  They have gotten past that teenage stage where they were constantly bickering and are such good friends now.

Love using a bold colour with black and white, so I picked out the teal from Brittany's dress as it looks striking with the black.   Went for mixed media grunge on this LO, with layers of gesso, mists, stamping and masking.  Added some strips of washi tape and a cool barbed wire chipboard from Dusty Attic and of course couldn't go past adding some gorgeous flowers from Manor House Creations.

Product used:  Manor House Creations flowers, Kaisercraft pp, Prima stamps, Crafters Workshop stencil, Lindys Stamp Gang starburst spray, Luminarte pigment powders, Dusty Attic chipboard, washi tape, Viva Inka Gold - silver, gesso, modelling paste.

Classy and Fabulous Canvas - Manor House Creations

Hi Cathy here, with a canvas to share, created for Manor House Creations. The inspiration for this canvas came from playing with one of the Prima Doll stamps. I loved the full skirt on the stamp and was trying to jazz it up and create some texture.
I started with 2 layers of lace, then cut the pink sunflowers and the larger white romance flowers in half for a scallop effect to create the fullness of a ball gown.  To soften the layers between the paper and flowers I added a layer of pearl trim.
The top of the dress was stamped in a contrast colour and embossed to create the look of patterned fabric. I altered the teeny weenie rose with pink glimmermist for the hairband.
The white cheval frame was inked in black, backed with a printed quote, and embellished with flowers.  The flowers were altered with pink glimmermist and diamond dust to add a bit of sparkle.

MHC Products Used: Ornate Cheval Frame white,Tea Roses black, Idyllic white, Sunflowers pink, Romance – Promises, Teeny Weenies, Cottage Garden Birdsong.

Other Product Used:  Canvas, Fancy Pants,  and CI pp's, Prima poppy stencil and doll stamp, Kaisercraft washi tape, pink glimmermist, modelling paste, Diamond Dust, Green Tara velvet leaves, Cricut embossing folder, marcha Stewart pansy punch,Versamagic ink, Craft Queen pearl embellishments, metal charm, lace, digital image
